Meeting Minutes 3/28/15 - Presentation by The New Mexico Orchid Guild

Meeting:

Marlene Roberts, of the New Mexico Orchid Guild, brought in several live examples of her gorgeous orchids—members where invited to draw and photograph them as much as possible in preparation for the upcoming Orchid Guild Show at the Botanic Gardens. Marlene also gave a details presentation of orchid details and parts, including a handout for members in attendance.

Due to our continuing inclement weather, we've been forced to cancel our meeting for Saturday, February 28th (tomorrow). Sorry for the last minute change of plans—it's so rare for us!

Meeting Minutes 10/25/14 - Artisan's Expo Review

Meeting:

Lin & Judy showed items that they purchased at Artisan’s Expo 2014.  Both mentioned the lack of colored pencils at the show and an overall disappointment in what was available.  Highlights included wooden boards in which colored pencil could be directly applied or as a support for paper, new pencil cases that stand upright, sanded paper that is to fill the void between U-Art and Kitty Wallis, Mineral Paper that is water-resistent and Splash Inks.

Rex brought his laptop and projector so we could view The CPSA 2014 International Show and Exlore This 10! DVD.

Howdy!

I want to give a "Shout Out" to everyone for the marvelous paintings entered at St Mark’s Gallery! What a variety of subject matter and something to touch everyone. I am honored to be a part of this group of talented people!

Our meeting on Saturday, September 28^th will be split into two parts. First, Rex Barron will do a program on underpainting. Secondly, members are invited to bring in a colored pencil work-in-progress for a kind and gentle critique. We all learn from one another and this is a great way to enhance our future paintings.

*A reminder the October meeting will be the election of new officers. The positions open are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Program Director.
